Ministry, Chapel & Character

LPCA Character Education Program

  • Character Ed. &Family Ministry Advisor: Gloria Akins – gakins@libertyprepnc.com The family ministry advisor will plan chapel programs, and provide resources for parents, teachers, and students to help them apply the principles learned in chapel, to their day to day lives at home and at school.

  • Character Ed. Program Goals:

  • Our goal is to help our students develop a Biblical world view: that they learn to view the world and their decision making through the filter of what the Bible says, and from a perspective of creation and God’s hand in their lives.

  • Our goal is also to reinforce the concept, that character education is the primary responsibility of the parent. We strive to support parents as they work to instill Godly character in their children. Deuteronomy 6:5-9 “These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.Impress them on your children.Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates.”

  • Role of the School:  Here at Liberty Prep, we will provide resources and support to parents as they face the challenges of parenting.  We also want to emphasize our need for the Holy Spirit to help us through the difficult parts of parenting and teaching.  We cannot achieve our goals without the help of God, and the power he gives us through his son Jesus.  The monthly Parent Connect Newsletter will provide parents with parenting resources.  The weekly Parent Connect Meetings will provide parent training in a supportive environment where they can learn and fellowship with other parents.

  • Parental Role: “Children’s most influential relationships for good or for bad are at home, especially with their parents.  So, next to the saving work of the Father himself, the most powerful motivation to follow Christ that children can receive is through parents who love them the best yet love God the most. Don’t underestimate your influence on your children no matter how old or young they are!” – NAUMS Character Education Program Guide.  As parents we need to be intentional with teaching our children about God and his character.  We also need to allow the Holy Spirit to work in our lives so we can display these character traits to our children.  Our actions often speak louder than our words.

  • How Do We Reach These Goals? :

  • Character development vision: Love one another and seek to glorify God in all we do.

  • Heart Based Parenting -Showing children their need for Jesus.Striving to get to the heart of behavior problems or issues that arise rather than just providing consequences.

  • Chapel programs.
